A mother in the U.K. whose tumor robbed her of her eyesight credits the daughter she’s never seen with helping to save her life after she began experiencing frightening symptoms while pregnant. Emma Bullin, then age 40, was pregnant and driving down the highway in 2003 when her eyesight went blurry, SWNS reported.
“It was like a fog right in front of me,” she told the news outlet. “I couldn’t see anything clearly.”
Bullin said she and her husband drove to an optician who said it was a side effect of pregnancy, which she would allegedly hear again a week later from a midwife despite her eyesight never improving.

“I thought it was odd,” she told SWNS. “I had never heard of pregnant women going blind, but you just take their word for it.”
Eight weeks before she was due, Bullin landed in the hospital for pre-eclampsia and bells balsy, but doctors were hesitant to send her for an MRI due to her unborn baby. Bullin delivered daughter Paige one month premature, but her eyesight never returned.
An MRI revealed lesions on her brain, and she was sent for surgery to have the tumor removed.
“I had the tumor before and when I was pregnant, it was like ‘Woopee’ because of the estrogen and grew loads,” Bullin told SWNS. “My mom brought up my daughter for those first few months, as my husband had to go back to work. She would bring her in and lay her on my chest and it was the time when my daughter would sleep most soundly.”

Bullin claims her doctors said that if Paige had been born full term, the tumor would’ve killed the new mom.
“It was growing at such a rate it would have killed me before they got it,” she told SWNS. “She saved my life because she helped find the tumor by coming early.”
Bullin said she and Paige have a close bond because they both were learning how to navigate their new surroundings at the same time.
“It was horrible of course – I have never seen her,” she told SWNS. “On the positive side, I say to her that she’s the most stunning girl, and she always will be.”
